Ahmadi Muslims – Who Are We?

Ahmadiyya-Peace-Symposium-2013-3

Ahmadi Muslims (members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Communty) strive to live up to the values of Islam – both as individuals and as a single collective unit.

The origins of the community lie in the claim made by its founder, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him) more than 100years ago, he claimed (on the basis of Divine revelation), that he was the the messiah promised in various religious scriptures whose mission was to unite people under the banner of peace. He wrote many books aimed at explaining the meaning behind scriptures and in particular to clarify misconceptions that had crept in over time. He bought no new law or teachings, but was dedicated to reviving the true peaceful message of Islam as was revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him).

After his demise the community has been led by its elected spiritual leaders (Khalifas) who are elected to office for life. This system of Khalifat is unique to Ahmadi Muslims and has served to unite the community as one. The current spiritual leader is Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad and his global leadership ensures the the community remains focused on the rememberence of God and the service of mankind. He has also repeatedly made clear that this Khilafat has no political desire or ambition, rather its true purpose is to engender the spiritual reformation of people and to create social harmony through prayer and service to humanity..

His sermons are broadcast throughout the world via satellite – this also reflects the open nature of the community so that there people are able to understand the beliefs and values of this community.

You will find many of the beliefs and values demonstrated in this site.
