PEACE CONFERENCE 2010 SLOUGH
The Slough branch of the Ahmadiyya Community held Peace Conference on 23rd January 2010. The topic of the conference was; 

‘Routes to Universal Brotherhood and Peace’.

Guests at this event included councillors from Slough Borough Council, Fiona McTaggart MP for Slough, Ruth Bagley Chief Executive Slough Borough Council, Councillor Joginder Bal Mayor of Slough and Pro Vice Chancellor Professor David Jones. Also representatives of various faith groups, schools and youth groups.
Vice Head of  UK Ahmadi’s, Syed Mansoor Shah Sahib chaired this event, with Mr Laeeq Ahmad Tahir Sahib – a Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK – gave a keynote speech on the theme of the Peace Conference.  Mr Abdul Latif Khan,  Regional
Head of Middlesex headed up a number of representatives from the Community.
Proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, Sahib followed by the English translation  followed by Mr Mobashir Ahmad Tahir Sahib – President Slough Branch – then delivered a welcome speech, followed by speeches from guest dignitaries.

Aside from all the talk however a group of Slough Atfal ( boys under 15yrs )and Nasirat ( girls under 15yrs ) also delivered a
presentation on peace, which included reading out messages of peace from the holy books of religions such as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism.

Ruth Bagley Chief Executive Slough Borough Council
We can invite people to increase their knowledge of each other. We can then bring greater opportunities for harmony. I commend Ahmadiyya Muslim Association for an event like today. It brings people together from difference parts of community and this is one way of promoting brotherhood.

Councillor Joginder Bal Mayor of Slough
I humbly request Ruth to include or have a representative of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association on the ‘Preventing Violent Extremism Committee’ because they are making extremely good contribution towards international peace. We should support them and make them feel that they are not alone. We are all with them.

Fiona McTaggart MP for Slough
We have more in common then things which separate us. If we really want a civilised society we need to focus on things we share. To make world a better place.

Professor David Jones Pro Vice Chancellor Thames Valley University
Universities assist in the financial success of the society. Universities should teach students in such a way that when these students join businesses they keep in mind the welfare of the society whilst conducting business.

Maulana Laeeq Ahmad Tahir Sahib – Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association
All human beings are children of God, if we hate innocent people how can we claim we love our God. Impossible. According to the Holy Quran a Muslim must protect all worship places, Churches, Synagogues, Mosques.

Furthermore between the speeches Farooq Mirza Sahib – representing the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association – (AMYA) UK gave an overview of the Ahmaddiya Charity Challenge (MKACC) over the last decade. He invited guests to take part in this year’s Charity Challenge which will be held in May in Slough.
There was also a Question and Answer session organised. Including Murabi Sahib the guest speakers also answered the questions.

Mr Mansoor Shah Sahib UK then concluded this conference with his address said that;

…you have to be loyal to your country where you live. You have to obey the law of the country. Respect the laws and respect the human beings who live around you as your neighbours. …….. education has to be the centrepiece around which society has to be built….

Representative from Humanity First (HF) delivered a presentation covering the

work carried out by HF throughout the World.
