Muslim youth spend Christmas day helping the elderly in Milton Keynes

Young Muslims spent Christmas Day making a difference to the elderly in Milton Keynes by giving gifts and providing free taxi service and meals to the elderly.

10 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) brought smiles to more than 100 elderly residents of Milton Keynes at MK Dons Double Tree by Hilton Hotel.

The Ahmadi Muslim Youth provided their cars and services to taxi the residents to a seasonal meal, and helped provide food and gave gifts, working alongside registered charity ‘My Christmas Day Party for the Elderly’.

Saeed Nazir, the local youth leader said: “It was such an honour to extend a helping hand and to bring a smile to the faces of so many people.

“We felt like a family with the people we helped and that is how they felt too. People may wonder why we take time out to help, but we enjoy doing the voluntary work we do because it is our religious obligation.

“Islam encourages us to help alleviate hardships and respect and honour our elders.”

The AMYA is looking to serve the locals across the country in the coming days and will be visiting the elderly and children in hospices, feeding the homeless, cleaning streets and planting trees.
