Members of Majlis Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya The Gambia have Honour of a Virtual Meeting with the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community

“…Always think that Allah the Almighty is watching over you.”– Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad

On 30 May 2021, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad held a virtual online meeting with members of Majlis Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya (Ahmadiyya Muslim Children’s Auxiliary) from the Gambia.

His Holiness presided the meeting from his office in Islamabad, Tilford, whilst the members of Majlis Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya joined virtually from the National Headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, The Gambia in Banjul.

Following a formal session starting with recitation of the Holy Quran, members of Majlis Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya had the opportunity to ask His Holiness a series of questions regarding their faith and contemporary issues.

One of the Atfal attending the meeting asked His Holiness about the best way of establishing a meaningful relationship with God.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“The best way is that you should always think that Allah the Almighty is watching over you. Whatever you do, Allah the Almighty is seeing. When you have this type of mind-set you will not do bad things and you will try to follow everything Allah the Almighty says to do and you will try to leave all those things which Allah the Almighty says you should not do. So, always think that Allah the Almighty is seeing your every deed and action wherever you are. You can hide yourself from people but you cannot hide from Allah the Almighty.”

Further elaborating, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“Secondly, Allah the Almighty has said that the five daily prayers are obligatory. You must offer these five daily prayers and in your prostrations pray that Allah the Almighty makes you a strong and staunch (Ahmadi Muslim) and pray that you have a good relationship with Allah the Almighty and that He listens to your prayers.”

Another child asked His Holiness how a student could succeed and progress as they grew older.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated:

“Being a student, you have to realise what your responsibilities are. You have to fix a goal and a target. If you want to be a scientist, then always keep in mind that you will have to work hard. If you want to be a doctor, you will have to work hard – and similarly if you want to be an engineer, a lawyer and so on and so forth. So in this way fix a target and work hard to achieve it.”

Another Tifl enquired from His Holiness if it was appropriate for a Muslim to celebrate their birthday.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad replied:

“As Ahmadi Muslim children you can celebrate your birthdays in your home but there is no need to spend money on inviting others. You can sit together with your family members and prepare some sweet and enjoy it… But to invite so many people and celebrate it in a way which is lavish, it is not permissible. We never celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) or any other person. So if we don’t celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then what is the need to celebrate our own birthday? So you can sit together with your family members and your mother can prepare some good food for you like a cake or a pastry or some other sweet or whichever food you like.”

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad further said:

“As I said, you can enjoy at home but don’t invite your fellow students as that is just wastage of time and money. Instead, if you have enough money, you can give some money to charity so that the poor people can also enjoy some food from your money. There are so many people in the world who are even deprived of their basic daily food. They are poverty-stricken, they are suffering. So instead of spending money on something which is useless, you should help the poor.”

Explaining the importance of expressing gratitude to God Almighty, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“Also, you should celebrate your birthday by offering two Nafl [voluntary prayers]. Thank Allah the Almighty that He has blessed you with this life and blessed you with so many things and also seek His help and pray that He always gives you more so that you can be a more useful asset for your Community and for the nation.”

Another child asked His Holiness how one could best serve and love the institution of Khilafat?

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“If you are following commandments of Allah the Almighty and following the instruction of the Khalifa of the time it means that you love the institution of Khilafat.”

Further emphasising the importance of following the guidance of the Khalifa of the time, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“Follow the instructions given to you by Khalifa of the time because the Khalifa of the time always gives you instructions according to the teachings of the Holy Quran and the practice of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and according to the further elaborations of those teachings by the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him). So if you are following the instructions of the Khalifatul Masih and listen to his sermons it means you love the Khalifatul Masih and you are determined to save and help the institution of Khilafat.”

A Tifl expressed his desire that His Holiness soon visits The Gambia.

In response, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“Okay then pray for it. Pray that Allah the Almighty enables me to visit The Gambia as early as possible. I also want to visit The Gambia. I don’t know if you are more anxious for my visit or I am more anxious than you! We should both pray. When Allah the Almighty accepts our prayer, then I will visit The Gambia, God willing and I will see you there personally.”
