Birmingham Muslims Organise a COVID-19 Pop-up Vaccination Hub

A COVID-19 pop-up vaccination Hub was set up at the Darul Barakat Mosque in Birmingham on Thursday 20 May 2021. Doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine were administered for first and second doses.

Despite the bad weather, all the pre-booked members arrived at their given times . 103 vaccinations were made by the external local NHS CCG Team throughout the day, which included members of the local community.

The preparatory work for this clinic started in April. Dr Shahzada Khuram Ahmed, a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC) and a consultant ENT surgeon in Birmingham was appointed to lead the discussions with the NHS and local CCG.

The NHS team who came were very complimentary of the AMC and the booking system which made their work very efficient. They are keen to come again subject to sufficient demand.
