Another successful refugee collection

Farnham Help for Refugees held another collection at St Thomas-on-The Bourne on June 22 which attracted support not just from Farnham residents but from people from as far away as Odiham, Woking and even Southampton brought their donations.

Helen Monroe, one of the organisers, said: “The sorting and packing was carried out by volunteers on the day, and we are very grateful for their support. We had new and familiar faces join us, including a group of volunteers from Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association for Surrey & Hampshire.

“We are sending toiletries to the British Red Cross in Portsmouth and 17 banana boxes will be shipped to the Moria camp in Lesvos as part of the Love4Lesvos initiative.

“The rest of our collection, including all the medical aid donated, has been delivered to High Wycombe Helping Others ready to be shipped to Syria. Some of the aid we sent, particularly the sleeping bags we received, will be sent to Calais.”
