Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK Welcomes Statement by International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance on Persecution of Ahmadi Muslims.

We welcome the statement by the International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance (IRFBA), that highlights the persecution faced by Ahmadi Muslims in various countries across the world.

The persecution goes against the spirit and letter of Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in several countries it impacts severely on the rights of Ahmadi Muslims to freely practice their Islamic faith as equal citizens of a country.

We have witnessed the situation deteriorate over the past 50 years with Ahmadis being discriminated against in every sphere of life from the cradle to the grave. The persecution has seen Ahmadis being imprisoned, murdered, Ahmadi mosques being demolished or sealed, and even Ahmadi graves desecrated – all simply on grounds of faith. We call upon all governments to grant Ahmadi Muslims and all other religious communities full and equal rights as citizens of their country.

We believe this is the only pathway to true social harmony and peace, as it will better enable all citizens to live in peace and work together for the peace and prosperity of their country. ENDS
