About this Campaign

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has embarked on a campaign to inform the public of the true message of Islam. One they aim to live up to and one that reflects a sharp contrast to much of what is picked up on in the media.

Muslim Youth Group wins The Ann Carrington Award for excellence in volunteering – again

Members of the Ahmadiyya Youth accept Volunteer Award

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association were invited to the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Awards Party on Monday 1st November 2010 at the spectacular Centre Point tower in Central London.

The Awards Party was in response to the tremendous amount of fundraising and volunteering support that many individuals and groups had provided for the London Bikeathon in this, the charity’s 50th anniversary.

Three members from The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association were invited to the event: Shiraz Sethi, Mohammed Bashiruddin and Yasser Khan  attended the event.

Ahmadi Youth Representatives collect Volunteering Award

A short welcome address and thank you was given by the London Bikeathon Co-ordinator, Danielle Morgan during which time she paid special tribute to the work of The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association and in particular in successfully deploying in excess of 200 volunteers earlier this year at the bikeathon. Soon after this address, the awards ceremony commenced.

There were many awards presented to an array of individuals, groups, companies and organisations that had helped raise vital funds over the course of the year for the London Bikeathon.

The main award given to individuals or groups who have demonstrated volunteering prowess is the Ann Carrington Award, which AMYA won three years ago. By the grace of God, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, retained this accolade this year, when graciously presented the Ann Carrington Award for dedication and commitment to the charity through the deployment of volunteers to support worthy charities.

Richard Delderfield (Vice Chairman of the board of trustees) commended us on our work and expressed his delight at the work of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association. Moreover Cathy Gilman (Chief Executive) also met with the team and was indebted to the works of the community and how successfully the marshals were deployed at the event.

We continue to maintain a close link with the charity, whom we have been supporting for a number of years and look to assist them once again next year in the deployment of their London Bikeathon marshals across the city and scenic routes once again.
