Message from Fire-Hit Mosque: Love for All Hatred for None, Praises for Emergency Services and Thanks for Local Community Support

Muslims will converge on Britain’s biggest mosque complex that was ravaged by fire for Friday Prayers and thanksgiving.
Last week’s blaze caused serious damage to the administrative section of the complex but thanks to the swift action of the emergency services the mosque itself and the library and main hall and several other offices remained completely unaffected.
On Friday His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Caliph of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, will lead the first Friday Prayers since the fire and the mosque will again open its doors to the community for prayers.
His Holiness said:
“A true believer always seeks to strengthen his faith and his link with God throughout his life, regardless of what challenges he faces. Whilst the fire struck the front of the site, we are ever grateful to God that the mosque was not damaged in the slightest and nor was anyone hurt. Thus our hearts are full of gratitude to God for His mercy during this time.
“We also are extremely grateful to the fire officers and all the emergency services for their selfless work in protecting the House of God. How fortunate we are that we live in a country that has such a wonderful system of law and order and such care for its citizens. This is indeed praiseworthy and a credit to this country. May God the Almighty reward them abundantly for their services.”
“We are also grateful to people the world over and to members of the local community who have sent messages of support and even offered to help us restore the mosque complex. May Allah bless them for their kindness and compassion.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim community will be working to restore the landmark mosque complex to its former glory in order to ensure its community work, charity work, interfaith work and outreach activities can continue with renewed vigour.
The Baitul Futuh mosque in Morden, south London, is the biggest mosque complex in western Europe which can accommodate some 13,000 worshippers. It opened in 2003 at a cost of £20million funded by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community itself.
