South-West Ahmadi Muslims Remembrance Events for HM Queen Elizabeth II

On 14^th September, members of the Southwest Ahmadiyya Muslim Community welcomed civic dignitaries, members from different faiths and local neighbours for a special service of thanksgiving for the life of Queen Elizabeth. The event was held at the local Mosque and included several testimonies to the Queen from a range of speakers.

Attendees included Dr. Heather Payne (senior medical officer from the Welsh government and Mr. Aled Edward (Secretary interfaith council for Wales).

On 16th September, King Charles III visited Cardiff for the first time as King. The King and Queen Consort attended a service at Llandaff Cathedral. More than 400 civic dignitaries were present which included members from the Welsh government, the Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan and the UK Prime Minister. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community from Cardiff was also invited to Llandaff Cathedral, to remember HM The Queen. Imam Ammar Ahmad met different faith leaders and promised to work together to build a peace and harmonious society.

On the same day, ITV News Wales interviewed Imam Ammar Ahmad and asked him about the experience of the service. The Imam stated:

“We were humbled to be present there today, to pay our condolence to the Royal Family and to show we stand beside them during this difficult time. Islam teaches us to be loyal to the country we live in.”
