Ghana: Ahmadiyya Youth give blood to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital
Cape Coast – Members of the Central Regional Youth Wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission have donated blood to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH).
This follows a four-hour clean-up exercise, on Sunday, to help maintain a clean environment at the hospital and encourage communal labour among the youth.
They cleaned choked gutters and weeded the bushy surroundings of the hospital, after which they interacted with the patients and prayed for their speedy recovery.
Mr. Saddique Usman, the president of the Youth Wing, said it was the tradition of the Ahmadiyya Movement to take keen interest in corporate activities, while the clean-up exercise and the blood donation was in fulfillment of the Islamic teachings of love and sacrifice to mankind.
He advised the youth to desist from activities that were detrimental to their development so that they could be useful for their families and the nation at large, and urged other religious bodies and corporate institutions to regularly embark on such programmes.
Some of the youth who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) expressed their happiness for donating blood to save lives.
Mr. Martin Ampofo, the principal blood organizer at the CCTH, underscored the need for people to donate blood to guarantee satisfactory stocks to enable the hospital to attend to emergencies promptly.
He praised the Ahmadiyya youth for the gesture and encouraged them to continue doing it periodically and called on other faith-based organizations to emulate them.
