Donation made to Food Bank in memory of Jo Cox

Members of a charity have donated £1,500 to Batley Food Bank – in memory of former Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox.

Charity Walk for Peace raises funds from peace walks that have been held all over the UK.

In consultation with representatives of the charity, it was felt that the best way to pay tribute to Mrs Cox and to honour her legacy was to make a donation to one of the local charities that she supported; in this case, Batley Food Bank.

The project leaders of Batley Food Bank, Sandra Major and Ken Lowe, were contacted by Mr Arif Ahmad, Co-ordinator for Charity Walk cheque presentations for the North.

They were both delighted and overwhelmed to accept the donation.

The presentation of the donation took place on the last day of Ramadan at Batley Food Bank.

A spokesperson from Charity Walk for Peace said: “This is one of the many local charities that Jo Cox supported and the Charity Walk for Peace wishes to continue the legacy of Jo Cox.”
