Charity dinner raises £2,500 for mental health charities

MORE than £2,500 was raised for local mental health-based charities following the Leamington mayor’s charity dinner.The event, hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, was attended by more than 130 people.

The money raised will go towards helping the mayor Bill Gifford’s two chosen local charities – The Pam Britton Trust for Dementia and Springfield Mind.

Coun Gifford, said: “I would like to thank the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association who generously hosted the evening at no charge which meant that 100 per cent of all the donations made on the night will go directly to my chosen mental-health charities.

“I would also like to thank everyone who attended on the night, from the High Sheriff of Warwickshire and the many mayors and former mayors throughout Coventry and Warwickshire, to make it such a special occasion.
